BharataNatyam, the traditional temple dance of South India, is known for its unique integration of mind, body, and spirit. Unlike most dance forms, it goes beyond just physical movements and incorporates the visualization and dramatization of spiritual themes. This aspect makes it a truly holistic and spiritual experience.
Yoga, on the other hand, is also renowned for its comprehensive approach to harmonizing the body, mind, and spirit. It involves various elements, including movements, breathwork, sound vibrations, and meditative observation, allowing the spirit to guide the practitioner.
Life in Yoga has innovatively combined the essence of BharataNatyam with yogic principles to create "Dance Yoga." This practice includes movements inspired by BharataNatyam, synchronized with yogic breathing techniques, accompanied by spiritual music, and enhanced with visualization for spiritual cleansing. The session concludes with meditation, providing a complete and transformative experience.
What sets Dance Yoga apart from traditional BharataNatyam is its accessibility and effectiveness. While mastering BharataNatyam may take years, Dance Yoga can be taught within four hours, making it suitable for daily solo practice. The workshop is conducted in two parts, each lasting two hours, offering an opportunity for individuals to connect with their inner selves and embark on a journey of personal growth and spiritual exploration.
